How you can help!
Join the caring individuals, businesses and organizations that work together to positively impact the lives of Greenbrier County students and help them overcome life challenges and learning barriers. You can help by:
~ Becoming a tutorToday's youth need a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult, now even more than ever. Thousands of youth are dropping out of school, teen pregnancy is on the rise for the first time in over a decade, and drug and alcohol use among teens is increasing. The power of one person helping one child for one hour a week can make a difference between those who make it and those who don't.
Becoming a tutor involves helping a student develop his or her academic skills, in whichever area you are most able to help - Math, Science, Reading, History or English. Tutors spend approximately one hour once a week working with their student on items such as homework, class projects, or simply studying for an upcoming test. CISGC matches each tutor with a student based on the student's needs and the tutor's abilities.
Becoming a mentor involves developing a supportive relationship with a student through discussions about family, friends, school, or other issues they might be facing. This form of volunteering is not academically focus. Rather, it is aimed at providing the student with support and guidance, which many of them do not receive at home. CISGC matches each mentor with a student based on similar personalities and common interests. Mentors spend approximately one hour once a week with their students.
Share your talent by facilitating a workshop on one of the following topics:
Anger management
